Capuano draws papers to succeed Kennedy in Senate

(NECN: Scot Yount, Boston, Mass.) – On Monday, Joe Kennedy announced he will not run for his late uncle’s Senate seat. His decision has opened the doors for other possible candidates. Just this afternoon, Congressman Mike Capuano announced that he has taken the first step in possibly running for the vacant seat. In a statement, he said today he obtained nomination papers. He will make a formal announcement next week. University of Mass.-Lowell Chancellor Martin Meehan says he will not run for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the death of Edward Kennedy.
