Family biking across America, together

(NECN/WCIV: Charleston, S.C.) – A family pedaling 7,000 miles together on two wheels made a stop in Charleston, South Carolina. The Harrison family is geared up for a cross country trip — a journey of a life time with their 6-, 4- and 3-year-old daughters — all on one bicycle. “We’d been in Kentucky for over two years and we like to travel a lot and it started to shake so we came up with a plan and it started to be this,” Amarins Harrison. Overnight, the family camps out or stays in hotels — whatever comes their way. Their journey does not come without a few bumps in the road. A recent crash left a few scrapes and bruises, but its not enough to veer them off their path. “Even though we fell over and had a problem, its all about risk,” Billy Harrison said. “You get up and keep going and thats what we want to teach our kids. You keep going and you stick it out no matter what.” After the family gets their bike fixed in West Ashley, they willl stay in Charleston before venturing off to their next destination — Key Largo, Florida. WCIV’s Natalie Caula reports.
