Governor Patrick has hip replacement surgery

(NECN: Ally Donnelly, Boston, Mass.) – Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray has temporarily taken the State House reigns from Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. That’s because Patrick is recovering from hip replacement surgery. Statement from Harry Rubash, MD, MGH Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery, who performed Gov. Patrick’s procedure: “Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is in good condition, alert and resting comfortably following successful hip replacement surgery today at Massachusetts General Hospital. The procedure lasted approximately 2 1/2 hours without any complications. Gov. Patrick is expected to remain in the hospital for four to five days, followed by a few weeks of outpatient rehabilitation.”
