Kennedy family grateful for ‘breathtaking' turnout

(NECN: Latoyia Edwards, Dorchester, Mass.) – Members of the Kennedy family have been meeting and greeting thousands who were waiting in line to pay their final respects to Senator Edward M. Kennedy. A public viewing was held for Sen. Kennedy at the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum in Dorchester, Massachusetts on Thursday evening and Friday. Over 25,000 mourners paid their respects to Sen. Kennedy on Thursday night, with thousands more doing so on Friday. “It’s just breathtaking. I don’t know if there’s another individual in this country that could have received such an incredible tribute like the people of Massachusetts have given my father,” Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) said. Sen. Kennedy’s nephew Robert Kennedy, Jr. was one of the members of the Kennedy family who greeted those in line. “In the last year of his life he got so much love from so many quarters and so many thanks,” Robert Kennedy, Jr. said. “There’s individuals that benefited from his efforts.”
