Kerry pays Kennedy visit at JFK Library

(NECN: Dorchester, Mass.) – During the second of two public viewings of Senator Edward M. Kennedy at the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum, Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) paid his respects to his fellow senator by standing over the flag-draped casket, saying a silent prayer and making the sign of the Cross. Sen. Kerry, along with wife Theresa Heinz Kerry, first offered his condolences to the family and friends that were sitting vigil at the public viewing. Kerry served in the United States Senate alongside Sen. Kennedy since the 1980s. Public viewing of Sen. Kennedy was to end on Friday at 3 p.m., as to prepare for the Celebration of Life Memorial Service Friday night at 7. Sen. Kerry was scheduled to speak at that ceremony. Outside the JFK Library, Kerry said that Sen. Kennedy was “stolen too quickly.” A funeral Mass for Sen. Kennedy was to be held on Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica in Boston, before being taken to Arlington National Cemetery, where he will be buried adjacent to his brothers President John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy.
