Menino aide takes leave of absence amid e-mail controversy

(NECN: Greg Wayland, Boston, Mass.) – A top aide to Boston Mayor Tom Menino is taking a leave of absence. Michael Kineavy’s decision comes amid a deleted e-mail scandal at City Hall. Just yesterday, the administration turned over a second computer that may contain e-mails deleted by Kineavy. It was replaced last April, just days after the Boston Globe requested access to Kineavy’s e-mails. But, Menino insists the city is not hiding anything. Click here to read more from the Globe. The Menino administration has already turned over 5,000 e-mails deleted by Kineavy. Mayoral challenger Michael Flaherty is calling for Attorney General Martha Coakley to get involved in the investigation.
