Small plane crashes in New Jersey mall parking lot

(NECN: Rockaway Township, NJ) – A small plane has crashed in a New Jersey mall parking lot. The single-engine Cessna 172 landed on its nose between the Rockaway Township Mall’s JC Penny store and the Toys R Us store. The instructor and the student aboard the plane were slightly injured, but no one on the ground was hurt. The plane landed in an area of the parking lot with no cars. The plane had recently taken off from nearby Essex County Airport in Caldwell when the pilot reported a rough-running engine — according to the FAA.
