Mascot gives runner piggyback ride, crashes into hurdles

(NECN/VERSUS: Berlin, Germany) – Melaine Walker of Jamaica won the women’s 400m race at the World Championships in Berlin on Thursday night. Afterward, she was offered a piggyback ride from the event’s mascot. Upon accepting, Walker was carried down the track, but the mascot ran right into a stack of hurdles. It appeared that Walker was okay after the accident. It was unlikely that it was the prize for which she was hoping to get for winning the race. Material courtesy of VERSUS.
