Pierce: “A breath of fresh air” to have Garnett back

(NECN: Waltham, Mass.) – It is about four weeks until the start of the basketball season. The Celtics will tip off against the Cavaliers on October 27th. Today the Green Team gathered at their practice facility to meet and greet the media. Head coach Doc Rivers says Kevin Garnett has been cleared to practice with the team without restrictions. Garnett has surgery on his right knee in the offseason, and says the injury was worse than he thought. “Lets put it like this,” Garnett said. “You think it’s a bone spur the size of this tape recorder, it ending up being the size of this microphone.” Garnett says his rehab went as scheduled, and his timing was even back in a pickup game last week. Garnett’s teammates are also happy to have him back. Paul Pierce says, “It feels like a breath of fresh air just to have him step on the court.”
