Victor Martinez not getting caught up in Sox-Yanks hype

(NECN: Fenway Park) – Red Sox fans may be hyped up over the chance to play the Yankees at fenway, but catcher Victor Martinez is decidedly not amped up – he sees it as just another series. “This is another three game series,” Martinez said, “I’m looking forward to the team having fun and keep playing our game and see what happens.” Martinez will get his first chance to catch pitcher Brad Penny in tonight’s contest. He’s been regularly behind the plate while captain Jason Varitek is sidelined with a sore neck. Martinez may also get a chance to catch rookie Michael Bowden for the first time. Bowden was called up and will be in Sox bullpen tonight. Fernando Cabrera was designated for assignment to make room for Bowden, who has had a great season in Pawtucket.
