Construction Firms Facing Skilled Worker Shortage

On this Labor Day, we’re highlighting another industry that’s having a very tough time finding workers — construction. Construction companies across the US are having difficulty filling these skilled positions, and New England is no exception. A new report from the Associated General Contractors of America found 91% of firms they surveyed can’t find qualified workers to do brick laying, pipe work and electrical jobs. As a result, many projects are getting delayed or changed. And in the northeast, we’re seeing shortages even higher than the national average.
