Homemade Baby Formula Warning From American Academy of Pediatrics

Calling all parents: Finding a homemade baby formula recipe online is pretty easy, but the American Academy of Pediatrics is warning parents not to feed it to their babies. They say homemade formula can harm infants because it might contain too many or not enough nutrients that babies need at a very crucial time in their development. Babies should be fed only breastmilk or iron-fortified infant formula that has been prepared according to the directions on the package. Do not feed infants watered-down formula, imported infant formula, or homemade formula with powdered cow’s milk, raw milk or sugar, plain cow’s milk or milk substitutes like almond or soy milk.
