McConnell: Senate Won't Reconvene Early to Take Up Impeachment Trial

One week after the attacks on the U.S. Capitol – Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that the earliest the Senate could take up the articles of impeachment would be Jan. 19, unless all 100 senators agree to come back early. McConnell, R-Ky., told his colleagues Wednesday afternoon that he remains undecided whether he’ll vote to convict President Donald Trump.
