Weather Forecast: Snow Creeping In

Waiting on our Saturday storm which is bringing more than a foot of snow to West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky and some other mid-Atlantic states. As of early Friday afternoon, the storm sits over Georgia and Tennessee. The storm is moving northward, headed towards Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C. and New York City. Snowfall reaches New Jersey and New York on Saturday morning. Totals in these areas will be significant, but will drop off rather quickly on the northern side of this storm. New England will also be on the northern fringes with the first flakes flying on the South Coast by the late morning and early afternoon hours of Saturday. It takes until afternoon for the snow to expand northward into the Boston area. The snow will then wind down early on Sunday morning. Being closest to the storm, the South Coast faces the highest odds of meaningful accumulation. We’re expecting many cites and towns there to pick up around six inches of snow. The numbers rapidly drop off as you head northward. Around the Boston area, we’re expecting just a dusting to a couple of inches. A small storm track deviation, on the order of just 30-60 miles, would shift those numbers. In addition to the snow, it will be quite windy at the coast on Saturday and early Sunday. There will be some coastal flooding.
