(NECN: Scot Yount, Peabody, Mass.) - "Great reception wherever I've gone, I've been to a bunch of polling places around the district," said Richard Tisei, republican candidate for congress in Massachusetts' sixth district.

Just a few hours before the polls close, Tisei greeted voters in front of Lynnfield High School.

He has enjoyed tremendous support there as a state senator.

"Most people are saying the same thing to me, that it is time for a change, giving me the thumbs up and I feel pretty confident right now heading into the last few hours of the election," said Tisei.

Voters who are supporting Tisei tell us they are tired of the gridlock in Washington D.C.

"The main thing, I think he'll do great for the people in the sixth congressional district, work with the president both parties, and protect the future of our country," said Voter Bernie Markey who is supporting Tisei.

Many of Tisei's supporters tell us that they have voted for Democrat Congressman John Tierney in the past.

"I don't think he has done enough for this community here in the most recent years especially, I just have a lot more confidence in what Richard can bring to the table for us in the next few years," said voter David Comeau who has supported Tierney in the past, but is supporting Tisei.

"He's been my state senator for a while and my representative and I think he did a wonderful job, I did vote for John Tierney in the past, yes I did,"
Gerri Frost, who is supporting Tisei.
