(NECN: Brian Burnell) - Two weeks ago someone bought a winning Powerball ticket worth over $250 million somewhere in Fairfield County, Conn.

Lottery officials won't be any more specific on the location than that. The person has yet to come forward and the lottery folks are putting on the publicity with billboards across the state and lots of advertising at lottery sites.

"This is about we have a quarter billion dollar winner in the state of Connecticut and we want them to come in, we want to meet them and we want to give away this prize," said Anne Noble, Connecticut Lottery CEO.

It is possible whoever bought the ticket was just passing through. And it's likely whoever won is just getting their legal and financial issues lined up before they step into the millionaire's club.

Brian Burnell has more.
