(NECN) - The worst fighting in years between Israelis and Palestinians continues in Gaza city.

This comes days after Israel assassinated the military leader of Hamas.

Friday, some 85 missiles exploded within a 45-minute period in Gaza, sending black pillars of smoke towering into the air.

One blast flattened a section of the interior ministry.

These attacks come even as Israeli leaders offered to suspend their offensive in Gaza while Egypt's prime minister visits there.
