(NECN) - The world is buzzing over the recent pregnancy announcement of the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge.

St. James's Palace confirmed the big news on Monday - before Kate Middleton hit the 12-week mark.

As many Brits rejoice in the news of a royal baby, Kate Middleton has been hospitalized for acute morning sickness, or Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mass General Hospital's Dr. Allison Bryant Mantha joined "The Morning Show" to share some information on this condition.

She also weighed in on Jessica Simpson's recent news of a second pregnancy, just seven months after giving birth to her first child.

Many experts say that the ideal interval between delivery and conception of a next pregnancy is probably at least 18 months.

Concerns for short intervals, especially those less than 6 months, include a higher risk of prematurity, stillbirth, babies that are small for their age. Getting back to one's ideal body weight is more difficult with short intervals.

Some of these issues are probably related to nutrition and the loss of a woman's stores after she delivers - her body needs time to build those back up again before a next pregnancy

Concerns for short intervals are also higher in women who've had a cesarean delivery; the likelihood of rupture of the previous uterine scar is higher when there has been less time between pregnancies.
