(NECN) - It's time to go on the record with the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber President and CEO Paul Guzzi says Massachusetts' unemployment rate, which is higher than the national rate for the first time in six years, is in a glass half-full, glass half-empty kind of situation.
"The good news is we continue to add jobs, some 6500, and when you look at the categories, almost across the board we're adding jobs here. Slow growth, but at least some growth. The other side of the coin is that unemployment rate, 7.7 percent, at the national level, 7.1 [percent] - neither is an acceptable rate of unemployment. I do think the sequestration has had an adverse impact here in Massachusetts - research, teaching hospitals, the defense industry - and I do think that uncertainty has impacted us here as well," he says.
