November 8, 2009 Army: Hasan taken off ventilator, in ICU Play video

(NECN: Fort Hood, Texas) - The lone suspect in the shooting spree at Fort Hood was taken off a ventilator, according to Col. John Rossi.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan remained in intensive care at a military hospital.

Col. Rossi said on Saturday night that he is unsure if Maj. Hasan was able to communicate.

Maj. Hasan was shot during an exchange of gunfire during Thursday's attack. Army officials had previously said he was "not able to converse."
