(NECN: Damascus, Ark.) - At least six people are dead in Arkansas and storms rolling across the Midwest are to blame.

Authorities in Arkansas say one of the victims was a teenager.

The 15-year-old girl was killed when a tree fell through a bedroom where she was sleeping at her home in northern Arkansas.

Police say a 10-year-old boy was rescued from the same room.

The storms damaged property and blew out electric service to nearly 6,000 homes and businesses in Arkansas and the National Weather Service has issued tornado warnings for several counties.
