(NECN: Seattle, Washington) - The Coast Guard is asking for the publics help identifying a 6-year-old girl who may be in trouble aboard a boat somewhere in the south end of the Puget Sound.
The Coast Guard received a distress call from the girl who identified herself as "Kelsey" at 5:11 p.m. and said someone she was with - possibly someone named "Kelly" - was "in the water" and was "not waking up."
The girl stopped transmitting before additional information could be gathered, and did not make any additional contact. But the Coast Guard believes the call was not a hoax and the girl's boat was likely just south of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge when she made the call.
The Coast Guard searched the area by boat and by air, but did not find anyone believed to be Kelsey.
Additional aircraft were brought in Wednesday morning to assist with the search.
Anyone who heard the girl on the radio or can provide additional information is urged to contact the Coast Guard Sector Seattle (206) 217-6001.
