| June 10, 2008 Midwest flooding destroys homes, forces evacuations
|
(NECN: Lake Dalton, Wisconsin) - The severe weather which is already being blamed for 10 deaths in the Midwest continues to cause massive problems in communities in Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Iowa.
Part of a man-made lake gave way in Wisconsin, destroying five homes. Elsewhere in the state, an entire village was evacuated because of flooding.
The earthen embankment was holding back the manmade Lake Delton. The lake nearly emptied into the Wisconsin River, sweeping away three homes and tearing apart two others. One official says the breach could be up to 400 feet wide.
And in Gays Mills, Wisconsin, floodwaters have swept into the town for the second time in just ten months.
