(NECN: Newton, Mass.) - Two-two car MBTA trains collided on the D line in Newton, Massachusetts shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.
MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo says there are multiple injuries in the accident.
Efforts are underway to free the operator of the second train who is said to be suffering from serious injuries.
One passenger was flown by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital after the accident.
