| October 16, 2008 Police investigate ACORN break-in

(Scot Yount, NECN: Boston, MA) - A community group known for registering voters in huge numbers is under investigation in several states. Massachusetts is not one of them. Boston's ACORN office believes a break-in was not a random act.
ACORN has registed some 1.3 million voters. Most of them minorities and women, people who tend to be democrats. The office in Boston is not focused on voter registration, because Massachusetts is not a swing state, but more on defeating question one. Regardless the office was broken into, and they believe it was politically motivated.
When employees arrived at work Thursday morning they discovered that the office had been ransacked, desktop computers stolen and internet and phone lines ripped out of the wall. The group believes it has become a political target.
