| July 18, 2008 Three women to be ordained, face excommunication

(Prat Thakkar, NECN) - Three women will be ordained Catholic priests this weekend in a ceremony at a Protestant church in Boston's Back Bay.
The Boston Archdiocese says it will not recognize the ceremony, and its participants will be automatically excommunicated.
This will be the first event of its kind in Boston.
The U.S. Already has one woman bishop and 30 Roman Catholic women priests. Now they are moving forward with the ordination, despite disapproval from the church, and despite facing excommunication.
NECN's Prat Thakkar reports.
