(NECN) - The uncle of a missing Vermont girl has been arrested on unrelated sex charges. Investigators say Michael Jacques was one of the last people to see 12 year old Brooke Bennett. He's now charged with aggravated sexual assault against a minor, but the victim was not Bennett. Jacques dropped Bennett off at a convenience store on Wednesday. Police believe Bennett may have been trying to meet someone she met online. People in her hometown of Randolph say they're hoping she wasn't kidnapped. Investigators say there haven't been any break in the case. Vermont state police are performing forensic tests on some of Bennett's clothes found in Brookfield a few days ago.
