President-elect Obama's comment to Barbara Walters that he really does want to keep his Blackberry will start another round of discussion over the mystifying fact that the government can secure and document almost anything, but can't feel comfortable giving the leader of the free world direct access to the people who elected him.
But while the discussion over the Blackberry goes on - the Obama-Biden Transition Team opened up the floodgates for feedback over at change.gov. The new section is called "Join the Discussion", and it allows anyone to submit comments on a question or issue posed on the site. The first issue - "What worries you most about the healthcare system in our country?"
A thousand comments later, there is a lot of meat for the transition team, policy advisers, or the President-elect himself to churn through.
The interface is clean, and the threads are being held together by an interface developed by a four-person team at IntenseDebate. Micah Sifry at techpresident.com notes that the four developers are all, as we'd say in Boston, wicked young, including one member of the team who is 17!
