Vermont State Police say a car has veered off a road in Sudbury and flipped before landing in a field, killing the driver and injuring two passengers.
State police say the crash happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday on state Route 30 at state Route 73.
They say a preliminary investigation shows that 20-year-old Jakob Mulcahy, of Forest Dale, lost control of the car he was driving. Mulcahy was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to a hospital but died of his injuries.
Twenty-year-old Jacob Mitchell, of Ludlow, suffered injuries including a fractured neck and fractured lower back. Twenty-year-old Sean Armstrong, of Ludlow, had minor cuts. Both were wearing seat belts.
State police say speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
