    Firefighters in Waldorboro, Maine, are battling a fire at a home located on Atlantic Highway in Waldorboro.

    According to necn-affiliate WCSH, there was a couple inside the home at the time of the fire but they were able to escape safely.

    Crews arrived on scene around 3 a.m. and are still working to put out the fire.

    Five other fire departments from surrounding towns came to assist Waldorboro due to the lack of man power.

    The home is a total loss, however, the barn next to the home was able to be saved.

    Officials believe there were working smoke detectors in thh home but they occupants were woken up by the sound of breaking glass.

    The State Fire Marshall is expected to be on scene later today to inspect a possible cause but officials believe it was an accident.
