No Proof Behind Elizabeth Warren's Heritage Claims

(NECN) - The senate race in Massachusetts has gained national headlines, as more money is being spent on campaigns in the Bay State than any other senate contest thus far.

The latest focus that has reached a boiling point: Elizabeth Warren's debated Native American heritage.

The New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) has not expressed a position on whether Elizabeth Warren has Native American ancestry. The group says it has "no proof that Elizabeth Warren's great-great-great-grandmother O.C. Sarah Smith either is or is not of Cherokee descent."

Initial research indicated that various members of Warren's extended family made references to being Cherokee, citing secondary sources, but the NEHGS declared that additional research on the subject was needed.

Political Analysts George Bachrach (D) and Fred Van Magness (R) weigh in on that and other political headlines. Watch the attached video to catch the entire discussion.
