Actress and Portland, Maine, Native Anna Kendrick Funds School Projects

Actress and Portland native Anna Kendrick has provided funding for 31 classroom projects at schools throughout Maine this year through an online education charity.

Maya Kriet, a spokeswoman for DonorsChoose.org, told The Portland Press Herald that the "Pitch Perfect" star and an anonymous donor will cover a total of 74 requests for classroom project funding this year in the state.

Teachers use the website to seek out donations for various resources and projects from books and science equipment to field trips.

Funding from Kendrick will primarily be disbursed to schools in southern and central Maine. Kriet declined to say what the total amount of the actress' donation was.

The "flash funding" will be used to pay for requests made through DonorsChoose.org that haven't been covered for this school year.
