Retired Sen. Joe Lieberman to Advise post-Newtown Task Force

(NECN) - State lawmakers have begun work on reforms that address issues raised by the deadly Newtown school shooting.

A legislative task force charged with reviewing gun and ammunition laws, mental health services and school security met for the first time on Friday. It hopes to take action before the end of February.

Meanwhile, donations totaling $8.5 million have poured in. The town has established a five-person team to set up a foundation and figure out how to use that money.

Recently, retired Senator Joe Lieberman has agreed to advise the team on how to proceed.
