(TV Diner, Hull, Massachusetts) - It may be the new kid in town, but with its incredible waterfront view, multi-leveled rooms and cliffside patio, Beachfire Restaurant and Bar on Nantasket Beach in Hull, Massachusetts is already making waves for its scenic location and casual menu. The seascape may be unsurpassed, but will the food and service also reel you in? Lets find out.
Two small, yet sumptuous lump crab cakes pan fried to a golden hue and served with mixed greens and a lively chili lime aioli got things going in the right direction.
But things turned slightly downhill with the pulled pork nachos. The ample mound of chips were on the soggy side and the pork, tomatoes, black beans and cheese toppings were lacking in tang.
On we went to a beautifully presented hangar steak with garlic butter, sided by incredible roasted red onions and a cone of crispy fries. Upscale pub grub doesnt get any better.
We barely made a dent in the crazy generous portion of fantastic fish and chips. A half-dozen cuts of fresh and flaky haddock crested a peak of potatoes; another example of the high quality yet unpretentious vittles coming out of the Beachfire kitchen.
Dessert beckoned and we obliged with the homemade ice cream sandwich. Wedges of peanut butter cookie enveloping vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce were luscious and more than enough to share.
But in the name of research we also sampled the berry cobbler. The plump juicy fruit with buttery crumbles was enjoyable but suffered somewhat from too long under the broiler.

Service, however, was faultless. Our friendly and adept waitress Loretta anticipated every need, with charm and grace.
Considering its amazing location, the price point is quite reasonable at Beachfire with soups, salads and appetizers from $3.95 to $12.95; sandwiches, burgers and entrees from $8.95 to $19.95 and desserts averaging $6.50.
Despite a couple culinary kinks, for its remarkable vista, pleasing fare and superior service, Beachfire deserves the Gold Plate.
