Wahlberg Brings Hollywood Glitz to Mass. Premiere

(NECN: Julie Loncich, Hingham, Mass.) -   Next to the restaurant his brother owns and bears the family name, Mark Wahlberg brought a little Hollywood glitz and glamor to Hingham, Mass., screening his new movie "Broken City."

“People love when you come back to Boston,” Wahlberg said “I love coming back to Boston. It's an amazing thing to see where I've come from to what I've been able to accomplish but still be able to come  home and welcomed with open arms. That's the most important thing.

Wahlberg stars alongside Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta Jones doing what he does best, seeking  revenge and redemption as an ex-cop in New York City. Wahlberg also produced the film.

“I gotta make things happen,” Wahlberg said. “I want to be control of my own destiny. I'm not one of those actors who's fortunate enough to stay home looking in the mirror wondering when the next great script is coming in.”

Director Allen Hughes says there's one reason and one reason alone you should see this movie.

“They should come see it because Mark Wahlberg is the most sexy in this since the Calvin Klein ad," he said.

[Is that because of your directing?] It's because of my directing,” Hughes said. “I'm like get chiseled up, lose 30 pounds.”

I'm pretty sure he's always looked this good and I'm more than certain Bostonians can't wait for him to start filming again right here in The Hub.

“I think what a lot of people like about you is that can jump from comedy to drama so seamlessly,” Wahlberg said. “I think people recognize that I have a lot of real like experience that I bring to the role so I think it's a more honest portrayal that people can identify with."
