A member of the Boston City Council and her son were involved in a car crash in Jamaica Plain Friday afternoon, according to her office.
Councilor Kendra Lara's chief of staff confirmed to NBC10 Boston that both she and her son, Zaire, were in the crash and said they are expected to be OK, though Zaire "received several stitches" at Boston Children's Hospital.
A Boston police spokesman said a crash took place before 4:30 p.m. on Centre Street near Monument Square. He didn't have more confirmed information, noting Friday night that the report was still being written. The Boston Globe reported that Lara's vehicle hit a house.
Lara told the Globe in a text message that she was with her 7-year-old son at the hospital. It wasn't immediately clear if anyone else was hurt in the incident.

"It was a scary situation for everyone involved but thankfully Councilor Lara and Zaire are expected to make a full recovery," Lara's chief of staff, Lee Nave Jr., said in a statement. "She asks for privacy at this time."
NBC10 Boston requested the police report from the location where the crash occurred, and the driver's name is redacted.
According to the Boston Police Department incident report shared with NBC10 Boston on Saturday, the driver hit a fence, then a Centre Street home, "causing significant damage." Police said in their report that the driver was behind the wheel of an unregistered and uninsured vehicle with a revoked license.

According to police, the child was not secured in a booster seat as children under 8 years old or under 57 inches are required to be.
"As a result, a 51A report was filed due to neglect and failure to use a proper car seat for the child's safety," police wrote in the report.
A 51A report is filed with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families if a person is accused of child abuse or neglect, according to the state's website.
A spokesperson for the Department of Children and Families confirmed Saturday that they had received a report and are investigating. Further information is not available due to privacy requirements.
Police say the driver told them she was driving on Centre Street when another car pulled out in front of her. She said she swerved to avoid hitting it and could not brake fast enough to stop before hitting the home.
According to the police report, the driver involved in the crash will be summonsed to West Roxbury Court for operation of a motor vehicle after suspension, operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, and operating uninsured motor vehicle.
Lara's chief of staff didn't respond to questions about that information when sharing his statement Friday night.
Lara represents the city's Sixth District, which includes Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury, and was elected in 2021. Her city biography says she is the first person of color to represent the district.
