Some babies are arriving into the world early as a result of the winter storm.
Hospitals across Connecticut have cancelled elective surgeries scheduled for Tuesday.
Dr. Elizabeth Deckers, who is the medical director of labor and delivery for Hartford Hospital, says that meant the hospital had to move up two scheduled deliveries to Monday.
She says other patients who are expecting babies in the next few days are being told to watch for signs of labor and alert their doctors immediately, so arrangements can be made to get them to the hospital.
Hospitals across the state say they are asking staff for Tuesday shifts to come in Monday evening. Bridgeport Hospital spokesman John Cappiello says the city is helping provide extra cots for staff.
