The first positive samples of the West Nile virus have been detected in mosquitoes in Massachusetts, according to health officials.
The positive samples were collected on July 1 in Worcester and tested positive on Thursday, according to the state's health department.
No human cases of West Nile or Eastern Equine Encephalitis have been detected so far this season, and officials aren't elevating the risk level after this finding.
