Learning With Minecraft

Students in Boston are learning new skills using the game Minecraft.

In the heart of Boston's North End, amid 17th century architecture and cobble stone streets, some young students are recreating history with the click of a mouse.

It's the Old North Church like you've never seen it before- built within the game Minecraft.

Barbara Mikolajczak is on the faculty at Boston College and teaches computing concepts at St. John School. Her students at BC have been working on building the Boston Tea Party and Old State House in Minecraft, while these elementary school kids have focused on one of the city's most famous landmarks.

The students are putting a lot of different skills to work, from math to architecture to interior design. The experience is steering kids towards a variety of career paths.
