Police have arrested a Winthrop man they allege threatened to kill a woman, and then held off police during a four-hour standoff.
Police say 44-year-old Joseph Finch was arrested without violence early Sunday after he left his home and tried to re-enter it.
Finch is being held at Kennebec County Jail pending arraignment on a charge of domestic violence terrorizing.
Police say it started at about 10 p.m. Saturday when Finch allegedly threatened to use a handgun to kill a woman who lived in the same home.
The Maine State Police Tactical and Negotiation Team was called in and a negotiator communicated with Finch by loudspeaker and phone.
