Authorities are investigating the theft of a Christmas tree that a Newfield, Maine, woman had planted in memory of her twin brother.
The York County Sheriff's office says the tree was stolen from a home sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
Chief Deputy William King Jr. says the owner of the home, who did not want to be identified, planted the 6-foot balsam fir as a memorial to her twin brother, who died one year ago during the Christmas season after a heart attack.
King says the thief left behind solar lights that had been decorating the tree.
The sheriff's office is hoping anyone with information will contact investigators.
