Police say eight people were arrested after officers broke up a heroin ring in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Narcotics officers seized more than 2,100 bags of heroin, nearly $4,400 in cash and other items after executing a search warrant at a Lebanon Street residence around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say three officers were assaulted by a knife-wielding suspect during the raid. It's not clear if the officers were injured.
The suspects are facing charges including heroin trafficking, heroin possession and other offenses. They are expected to be arraigned on Wednesday in Springfield District Court.
