Ambulance Crashes Into Utility Pole in Newton, Massachusetts

State police say the ambulance was transporting a patient at the time of the crash

An ambulance crashed into a utility pole on Route 9 in Massachusetts as it was transporting a patient, authorities confirmed.

Massachusetts State Police say the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on Route 9 and Dudley in Newton.

The patient on board the ambulance was transferred to another ambulance to an area hospital. State police say it's unknown if the patient sustained any injuries as a result of the crash, but added that any injuries would be minor in nature.

The left lane has been closed on Route 9 eastbound. The uiltity pole will have to come down and repairs will have to be made, according to state police.
