An apparent explosive device was thrown into the yard of a Boston Police officer's home Sunday morning, the department announced Monday.
Police say a "Molotov cocktail-like device," made using a beer bottle, was thrown into the officer's yard around 8 a.m.
Authorities said no damage was done to the officer's home and only minor damage was done to the lawn.
An investigation is being conducted to determine whether the officer was targeted.
"The safety and well-being of my officers is always of the highest importance to me and, as a result, this is an incident we are taking seriously and investigating accordingly," said Police Commissioner William Evans in a statement.
The officer's name and the location of the incident are being withheld.
