Bus Catches Fire in Southborough, Massachusetts

The Southborough Fire Department was on scene Wednesday afternoon

On Wednesday afternoon the Southborough Fire Department responded to a bus fire on the Massachusetts Turnpike westbound.

The department confirmed that there were about 50 adults on the bus at the time but they have all gotten off safely.

Other fire departments in the area also responded for mutual aid. 

The Pike westbound was closed for about 15 minutes according to Massachusetts State Police.

Traffic was backed up on the westbound side for about five miles.  

State police say passengers will be removed from the shoulder by a school bus provided by the Ashalnd Police Department.
