A former Massachusetts Boy Scout counselor and YMCA instructor has been sentenced to six years in federal prison on child pornography charges.
Patrick Lynch was also sentenced Wednesday to 10 years of probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.
The 24-year-old Peabody man pleaded guilty in June to receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Prosecutors say starting in May 2013, Lynch began receiving emails containing images and videos of children being sexually exploited. They say he also received and viewed child pornography while in his tent when he worked as a counselor at a Boy Scout camp. He was also a rock climbing instructor at the Greater Beverly YMCA. When he was arrested two years ago, he was working at a rope climbing center.
