Last-minute preparations are underway for the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on Friday, including security sweeps.
Security is the biggest concern heading into the Fourth of July weekend, as terror threats put law enforcement in Boston on high alert.
Although there are no specific threats, authorities aren't taking any chances, and neither are event organizers.
Meanwhile, people going to the Boston Esplanade for the show should expect tight security, and should leave a number of things at home.
The following items are banned from the Spectacular celebration:
- Coolers on wheels
- Firearms, weapons, sharp objects or fireworks
- Glass containers
- Cans
- Pre-mixed beverages
- Grilling, propane tanks, open flames
- Bicycles aren't allowed through the checkpoints into the Oval or the Island/Lagoon areas. Bicycles are allowed through the rest of the venue, but cannot be left unattended. Bicycles locked to fences, poles and other structures may be subject to removal
- New this year: Drones
A rehearsal concert is underway later Friday morning, with the big show Saturday night.
