Officials have identified the 89-year-old Massachusetts man killed when he was struck by a sidewalk snowplow earlier this week .
The Middlesex district attorney's office identified the man killed in Reading as Jacob Goldberg, who was struck at the intersection of Lowell and Bond streets at around 3:15 p.m. Monday.
Goldberg was transported to the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, where he was pronounced dead.
Officials say the operator of the town-owned snowplow remained at the scene.
State police are investigating Goldberg's death.
A statement issued on behalf of the town of Reading stated, "Our hearts go out to everyone who was involved in this tragic accident."
