A Wareham, Massachusetts, man who was bit by a shark off the coast of North Carolina on July 1 has been released from the hospital.
The victim, 67-year-old Andrew Costello, released a statement on Monday reading in part:
“I was discharged from Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, N.C., on July 18. While I’m glad to be home, I remain focused on my long road of recovery. I want to thank my family, friends and staff at Vidant Medical Center for their love, support and excellent care that I received.”
The shark bit Costello in the rib cage, hip, left leg, and both hands while he was in waist-deep water.
The Boston Herald says Costello is their former editor-in-chief.
