The MBTA Red Line is set to shut down rail service this weekend to make preparations for winter.
According to the MBTA, buses will replace service for Braintree and Quincy Adams Stations as well as JFK/UMass and Ashmont Stations from December 3-4 and 10-11 from start to end of service.
Regular service will resume following the preparations.
Planned improvements include track replacements, new 3rd rails and new structures.
Severe weather has shut down lines and disrupted service routes in previous winters.
The project is costing more than $30 million to complete.
